Signing up for Art
We are now making 5 minute stories that have 2 - 5 pieces of art a piece. I don’t have enough time to assign each story individually. So, I’ve created a folder with art assignments:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GWhNb_yC4HbQsMfUjYnveSWO_KPp_akk
If you would like to sign up for a specific story to draw, grab the text file from that folder and move it to your individual folder in Google Drive.
Then go to Wonderstorie’s Airtable and put your name down as illustrating that book. Books are organized by book number and title. This step is important as I don’t want two people doing the same art.
Some of the books don’t have illustrations yet. Feel free to ignore those for now. I’ll update them in a few weeks, I just wanted to get you started.
Also we don’t have dialog marked in these stories, yet. But we will be making dialog for each story where ever there is “He/She said” or “He/She replied”. You can either wait for me to get you a list of dialogs in about a month, or note which characters are talking in the stories and just make dialog boxes for those characters. (Most stories have only 1 or 2 people talking max).
If you’ve already illustrated one specific character, please sign up for all the ones with that character. Silvia has the dog Nacho (previously Fritz), Lance+Gwen adventures, and Red adventures. I don’t think there are any other stories that piggy back off of each other, so all others are up for grabs.
Please have images be 1448 X2265. This gives kids the maximum amount of space to view the image.
If you feel the image just cannot be vertical, you can shrink the vertical down as much as you need, down to a square: 1448 X 1448.
The one exception to using vertical images now is quesiton images. Those should be like they have been before:
Those questions should continue to be 1448 X 1034
You can tell if an image is a question image because it will say
[Question Image 7: Who did it?]
If an image is both a regular image and a question image continue to use the landscape image of 1448 X 1034.
Rules to Remember
Try to not have any part of the image go off of the page - the image should look complete. For example the hair on the first image would have been better to be full.
Do not use thin lines - they disappear on small devices.
Do not use grey lines, they should all be black.
Keep lines simple and avoid giving things too much texture.
Dialog Boxes
Please use this Photoshop file for making dialog boxes. (It’s new)
We are now going to add names to all the dialog boxes. This is especially important in our 5 minute stories when the characters don’t have a lot of time for setup.
Please type the character’s name in the Dialog box. I’ll try to give you a list of their official names in each folder.
When naming the file please do not use capitals: use “tom.png” not “Tom.png” it breaks the program to use capitals (annoying, I know).
